A Green Bay Police detective has completed his investigation into allegations that a Gillett police sergeant filed a false report implicating Police Chief Jess Keplinger in a domestic incident. Oconto County District Attorney Ed Burke said he received the files last week and will take another week or two to review them.

For outdoor enthusiasts who spend time along the path around the Falls, this will be a week filled with anticipation. The Oconto Falls School District will present the art of more than 400 students from kindergarten through 12th grade in the Youth Art Month exhibit at the Oconto Falls Public Library for the month of March. A special reception for artists and their families will be held from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at the library. The YAM exhibit consists of quality artwork that is created using a discipline-based education.

Gillett Elementary School will hold its 4-year-old kindergarten registration on Thursday, March 19, and early childhood screenings on Friday, March 20. During kindergarten registration/screening, children who will be of school age in the fall (4 years old by Sept. 1) are brought to school by their parents. While at school, the children will be involved in a number of activities at various stations.

Gillett/Suring senior Grant Fischer was one win away from taking a spot at the Kohl Center podium during the WIAA Division 3 Individual Wrestling Championship Tournament, which concluded Saturday in Madison. Gillett Secondary School suffered a case of deja vu Saturday in a season-ending 41-32 loss to visiting Green Bay NEW Lutheran. The Tigers, fresh off a 65-19 win over Gresham on Friday, lost the WIAA Division 5 girls basketball regional final to NEW Lutheran for the second year in a row. “We had it, we just couldn’t finish, that is the bottom line,” Gillett coach Justin Daul said. “We came out in the second half, corrected things, took the lead.
