A juvenile male from the Seymour area died as the result of a single-vehicle crash in the Town of Seneca on June 19. According to the Shawano County Sheriff's Department, at 6:09 p.m., dispatch received a 911 call about a rollover crash on County Road D south of County Road J. Evidence on scene and further investigation showed a car was traveling northbound on County Road D when the driver lost control and entered the ditch.

Lovingly surrounded by his family, James T. Flauger, 79, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, at his home. Jim was born in the Town of Red Springs to Joseph and Minnie (Ross) Flauger. A lifelong resident of the Gresham area, he attended the two-room schoolhouse in Morgan Siding, then went on to graduate from Gresham High School. In 1965. he enlisted in the U.S.

Ranked as one of the largest polka festivals in the Midwest, it draws thousands of polka lovers to the city each year. A 48-year-old man from Pound was shot in the leg during a disturbance at a Town of Brazeau home June 18, according to the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office. In a news release, the sheriff’s office said that about 12:50 a.m., the dispatch center was notified of an incident involving a firearm in the area of the 11000 block of Tom Post Road. A preliminary investigation revealed a disturbance had occurred among several people at the residence.

As the second installment in its new speaker series, Lakes Country Public Library welcomes Douglas Buege for a July 16 presentation. Buege will discuss northern Oconto County’s butterflies and habitats at 6 p.m. in the Zeller Community Room. Douglas, who has a doctorate in philosophy, has been teaching in Madison since 1998.

The Lena Public Library will play host to Stella, a Linnaeus’s two-toed sloth, as part of the library’s summer reading program, “Color Our World,” at 1 p.m. July 24 at Lena High School, 304 E. Main St. This 90-minute program will offer attendees an opportunity to meet Stella up close and learn about these creatures.
