Deputies responded to 37 incidents, including suspicious activity near Garrity Road and County Road E in the Town of Morgan; five traffic stops, two traffic hazards, one traffic offense, three citizen assists, one miscellaneous traffic incident, one welfare check; one open-line 911 call; four ambulance calls; five crashes, two involving deer.

Dec. 17

Shawano Pathways is once again hosting a series of snowshoe hikes on area trails this winter.

First up is a moonlit hike at 6 p.m. Jan. 3 at Kroenke Lake.

Meet in the parking lot for a choice of three guided options: one hour, 90 minutes or two hours.

Two Central Wisconsin Conference-East girls basketball teams heading in opposite directions met for the first of two times this season Dec. 19 in Wittenberg.

Suring led from start to finish as the Eagles downed Wausaukee 65-42.

Up 28-14 at halftime, the Eagles outscored the Rangers 37-28 in the second half for the 23-point win.

The winning ways continue for the Bay Area girls hockey team as the Ice Bears claimed a 5-1 win over Beaver Dam on Dec. 20.

After a scoreless first period, Bay Area scored three goals in the second period for a 3-0 lead.

The city of Shawano is seeking $1 million in Community Development Block Grant public facility funds to improve water and sewer systems on four segments of roads.

When a door closes, a window opens. Or in this case, when one solar farm proposal ends, another company steps forward.

OneEnergy, with offices in five states including Wisconsin, is proposing a 5-7 megawatt solar farm on about 47 acres of county land on the north side of state Highway 22 near Rose Brook Road.

Nolan Stumpf, a development manager with OneEnergy, explained the plans to the public property committee Dec. 11.
