How smoothly someone navigates their perimenopause experience may depend as much on what’s on their plate as what’s happening hormonally.

Perimenopause, sometimes called the menopausal transition, has gained attention in recent years, said Michelle Clauson, registered dietitian with ThedaCare. “That’s because women are increasingly seeking help, support and answers on how best to manage this stage in their lives.”

It can be hungry work perusing books, so the Friends of the Shawano County Library served up brats for visitors to the library June 3. Besides the books, there were audiobooks, CDs and rummage — which even included a replica of the Mona Lisa.
