As spring bird migration comes to an end, I feel a hint of melancholy. The season’s excitement, anticipation and daily discoveries give way to quieter days. Still, this year’s migration left me with a set of experiences and memories that will linger long after the last migrants have passed through to their northern breeding grounds.

Kathleen Marsh will be the featured speaker in Lakes Country Public Library’s Speaker Series on July 15 at 5:30 p.m. in a presentation that includes rare photos and fascinating facts that might have been lost to history.

The Pulaski Red Raider marching band will perform in the July 3 Salute to Independence Semiquincentennial Parade in Philadelphia.

The parade will feature representation from all 50 U.S. states and U.S. territories.

Northeast Wisconsin Technical College and Aviate Flight School have partnered to launch the region’s first Professional Aeronautics Certification program, providing a direct pathway for aspiring pilots to enter the aviation industry.

The Waterways Association of Menominee and Shawano Counties is holding its fifth annual Where’s WAMSCO event June 19 through July 19.

This is a family-friendly scavenger hunt adventure highlighting local waterways within the borders of Shawano County. There will be four “treasure boxes” placed strategically in recreational areas along waterways.

Northcentral Technical College will offer grade-equivalency diploma and high school-equivalency diploma testing services at Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School, 400 W. Grand Ave., Wittenberg, beginning June 23.

Testing services will be available weekly from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays.
