Lena golfer takes 13th, Pulaski golfer is 17th at state

Lena’s Mason Belongia, who qualified for the state golf meet as an individual, finished the two-day event in a three-way tie for 13th place among Division 3 golfers. The WIAA boys championship was held June 9-10 at University Ridge Golf Course in Verona, near Madison. On the par-72 course, Belongia finished the first day with an 82, 10 strokes over pa and tied for 13th.

Lena and Wittenberg-Birnamwood baseball teams each came within a game of advancing to the state tournament, but each was defeated June 10 in their sectional final games. Four inducted into speedway hall of fame
On a night where four racers were inducted into the Shawano Speedway Hall of Fame, Seymour’s Tim Jorgenson made the biggest move to the checkered flag, starting in 10th place in the sport modifieds. It was Jorgenseon’s first feature win of the season after 10 starts on the circuit.
Shawano athletes earn all-conference honors
More than two dozen Shawano Community High School athletes earned all-conference honors in the Bay Conference spring sports season. Senior infielder Pete Bruette was a first team unanimous selection for baseball. Senior infielder Crew Weisnicht was named to the second team.
Bonduel golf team returns to state tournament
Division 1, Notre Dame Pulaski’s Brady Hayward qualified for the state golf meet as an individual after carding a 76 (tied for third best score) at Thornberry Creek in Hobart for the WIAA golf sectionals. Witt-Birn, Lena capture regional baseball titles
June 5 Wittenberg-Birnamwood 1, Bonduel 0 Bonduel traveled to Wittenberg for a regional championship game that ended up being an old-fashioned pitchers duel. Bonduel’s Cade Johnson and Witt-Birn’s Zander Barke each threw six shutout innings. In the seventh, Race Anvelink doubled to lead off the Bonduel half of the inning.
