Results spotty from scheduled Dairyland games

It looks like the heat and humidity took its toll on scheduled Dairyland League baseball games June 20 and June 22, as results from only one of seven scheduled games were reported. A full slate of games are slated for June 27-29. Updated schedules may be available on the teams’ individual Facebook pages. Seymour driver wins street stocks feature race
After being rained out the previous two weeks, cars were welcomed back to the Shawano Speedway on June 21 for a hot night of racing – that is, action on the track and sweltering, muggy weather. Clintonville’s Lucas Lamberies won the 20-lap feature race for the modifieds after staring in fifth place.
Witt-Birn coach inducted into hall of fame
Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School cross country coach Cathy Esker was inducted into the U.S. College Track & Field/Cross Country Hall of Fame on June 8. Esker, then known as Cathy Branta, competed at UW-Madison in the 1980s. She is a five-time national champion and 11-time All-American.

June 15 Cecil 8, Nichols 7 (10 inn.) Ken Casper’s run-scoring single in the bottom of the 10th inning broke a 7-7 tie and gave the Mudhens a home win over the Nitros. Cecil opened the scoring in the bottom of the first on an RBI single from Noah Beilfuss. Nichols took a 3-2 lead in the fourth, but the Mudhens regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning. Lena’s Mason Belongia is the golfer of the year for 2025 in the Marinette & Oconto Conference. Joining him on the all-conference first team were teammates Copper Demmith and Mason Spice. Tanner Behnke and Vance Turecek were named to the second team. Lena was also the conference champion. In baseball, senior Tyler Shallow was the conference player of the year.
