Oconto Falls’ Magnin takes checkered flag at Shawano Speedway

Kevin Feck, of Wausau, started in ninth place in the IMCA modifieds 20-lap feature race at the Shawano Speedway on May 16 and ended up getting the checkered flag. He defeated Jeff Teske, Shawano, who was second, and Andy Klosterman, Cecil, who finished third.

Chargers softball team wins in top of the ninth

Wittenberg-Birnamwood 12, Iola-Scandinavia 10

The Chargers scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat Iola-Scandinavia 12-10.

Zoey Thorson and Rory Salvesen each had home runs in the win. Brie Ladika hit a double.

Chloe Hanson recorded three RBIs, while Ladika, Salvesen and Jayda Moenke each had two.

Bonduel girls win conference championship

CWC Conference Championship

Bonduel’s girls won the CWC Conference Championship at Weyauwega-Freomnt High School, while the boys placed fourth.

The girls tallied 150 points, followed by Wittenberg-Birnamwood in seventh with 48 and Menominee Nation in 10th with nine.

Red Raiders lose twice to Phantoms

Bailey Hronek and Ella Maroszek each had three hits, and Kiera Altman had two in the Red Raiders’ 12-6 loss to the Phantoms in the first game of a doubleheader.

Kamrie Dorn was the losing pitcher.

Oconto Falls split a doubleheader with Wrightstown, losing the first game 5-4 while winning the second game 3-2.

In the first game, Landon Delfosse hit 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI. Dom Triechel was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Hawks tennis team takes third at conference tournament

Shawano’s tennis earned nine wins at Green Bay.

Menasha won the tournament with 13, followed by Appleton Xavier with 12, Shawano with nine, Fox Valley Lutheran with eight, Green Bay East with five and Green Bay West with one.

Pulaski lacrosse girls end regular season without a win

Pulaski was defeated 17-2 by Superior at the Sauk Prairie Triangular.

Anthony Lia scored four goals for the Spartans.

Regional games will be held May 29 and June 2.

Pulaski’s girls ended their regular season with an 18-1 loss to De Pere.

Jeskes named grand marshals of Oconto Falls Memorial Day parade

Oconto Falls’ biggest weekend of the year is right around the corner.

The Oconto Falls Memorial Day Celebration kicks off May 22 and runs through May 25. The weekend includes a Memorial Day service, the 11th annual Dash O.F. Color, carnival, car show, fireworks, softball tournament, food stands and live music.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School students hard at work on mural project

Many in Wittenberg turn to Britt’s Candy and Ice Cream Shop to satisfy their sweet tooth fix. Beginning in June, there will be a new mural to satisfy customers’ visual senses as well.

Behnke kicks off campaign for Assembly

Election season has begun for the Wisconsin Assembly, and Rep. Elijah Behnke kicked off his mission for a fourth term in office with a campaign fundraiser May 14 at Scolly’s Hometown Pub in Pulaski.
