Chargers beat Chiefs in softball DH

Wittenberg-Birnamwood 14, Shiocton 1

Rory Salvesen hit 3-for-4 including two triples, six RBIs and two runs scored as the Chargers dominated the Chiefs 14-1.

Chloe Hanson and Jayda Moenke each had two RBIs, and Moenke and Kennedy Benbo each hit two doubles.

Benbo and Megan Fischer each connect on three hits, and Moenke had two.

Hawks beat Hornets on soccer field

Shawano 5, Wautoma/Wild Rose 2

The Hawks girls soccer team jumped out to a 3-0 lead by halftime. They maintained the lead with each team scoring twice in the second half, as Shawano went on to defeat Wautoma/Wild Rose 5-2 in a non-conference match.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood duo leads area golfers in Cecil

Monday, May 18

Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s duo of George Seegmiller and Roman Johnson finished fourth with a score of 69 in a two-person scramble event at Golden Sands Golf Course in Cecil.

The scramble featured 32 teams from 11 schools.

Menominee Nation/Gresham 1 placed fifth with a score of 70, and Lena 1 was in a tie for seventh with a 71. Menominee Nation/Gresham 2 placed eighth with a 73.

Diana Lee Radtke

Diana Lee Radtke, 77, of Zachow, passed away Friday, May 15, 2026.

She was born Aug. 6, 1948, to the late Richard and Alice (Sauer) Mayefske in Panama. Diana graduated from Bonduel High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from UW-Madison. On Feb. 4, 1971, she was united in marriage to Terry Radtke in Anamosa, Iowa.

SCHS gives diplomas to 160 graduates

One door closed May 15 for about 160 graduates at Shawano Community High School’s 146th commencement ceremony, but those who spoke at the ceremony issued reminders that another door is opening to lead them to the rest of their lives.

WRL grads encouraged to live as children of light

Fifteen seniors at Wolf River Lutheran High School were lifted up and encouraged by an array of speakers at their graduation ceremony May 16.

Valedictorian Julia Young was among the first.

Veterans memorial dedicated

Members of Wittenberg American Legion Post 502 joined veterans from Bowler to dedicate a veternsm memorial May 16.
