Wilhelmina M. Wagner, 95, of Shawano, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 10, 2013, at Evergreen Care Center in Shawano, where she had been a resident for the past four years. Wilhelmina was born Jan. 26, 1918, in the town of Poy Sippi, Waushara County, a daughter of the late Ernst and Bertha (Mielke) Buhrow. She attended country schools, and following graduation from high school, she enrolled in the North Central Bible College in Minneapolis.

The Bonduel High School boys basketball team lost the lead in the second half and fell 62-54 to Amherst in Central Wisconsin Conference-8 action Thursday night in Bonduel. The Bears (3-3, 0-2 CWC-8) had a slim 30-26 lead at halftime as the Falcons (4-0, 2-0 CWC-8) got in early foul trouble.

The Bonduel High School wrestling team beat Amherst 45-24 in a dual meet Thursday in Amherst. Three Bonduel wrestlers earned pins. Mitch Sokolski pinned Sawyer Hintz in 1 minute, 59 seconds in the 170-pound match. Jacob Wudtke (182) got a pin of Gavin Sneller in 13 seconds.

The Shawano Community High School girls basketball team lost a close game to Hortonville to open Bay Conference play on the road Tuesday. Shawano (0-2, 0-1 Bay) and Hortonville (3-1, 1-0 Bay) were separated by one point after three quarters of play. The Polar Bears outscored the Hawks 10-6 in the final quarter to secure the 43-38 win. “It was a great game,” Shawano coach Ryan Koenig said.

Hawks swimmers earn 2 victories The Shawano Community High School boys swim team beat Antigo and Medford in a double meet Thursday in Antigo. Shawano beat Medford 125-34 and topped Antigo 116-47. The undefeated Hawks took first in all but two events. Zach Soper won the 100-meter breaststroke (1:12.61) and the 100 butterfly (1:02.21). Griffin Rades won the 100 backstroke and the 200 individual medley.

Shawano Police Department Dec. 9 Police logged 27 incidents, including the following: Juvenile — A 16-year-old male at Walmart, 1244 E. Green Bay St., was taken into custody for retail theft and possession of synthetic marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Burglary — Police investigated a burglary at Hensel’s, 134 S. Washington St.
