Fire crew called out during annual fundraiser

Music was playing, food was being enjoyed and the raffle sales were going steady when the call came in for assistance with a car crash. A group of firefighters suited up and headed out of town on the big rig.

Affordable child care available in Oconto Falls

Last year in Oconto Falls, Encompass Early Education and Care opened its eighth center.

The state-of-the-art facility, located at 650 E. Jackson St, opened its doors for the first time June 10, 2024. Since then, the facility has provided affordable day care to the greater Oconto Falls area.

• Andrew B. Warrington, 38, Keshena, pleaded no contest Sept. 23 to a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. A related felony charge was dismissed but read into the record in a plea agreement. Judge Katherine Sloma sentenced him to 30 days in county jail, time deemed served.

• Monnaleah Margaret Long, 41, Suring, pleaded no contest May 5 to possession with intent to distribute amphetamine or methamphetamine. A felony bail jumping charge was dismissed but read into the record in a plea agreement. Judge Michael Judge imposed and stayed a prison sentence Sept. 22, then placed her on three years of probation with conditions.
