Bonduel golf outing raises $15K

It was a record-breaking year for the 21st annual Bonduel Track and Field golf outing, organizer Greg Strayer said.

The Sept. 13 event drew 84 golfers in 21 teams and raised just over $15,000. The 2024 event raised $11,900.

“We had a goal of 25 teams, but we had a good group of golfers,” Strayer said. “We raised more than $3,000 more than last year, and that’s great.”

Thunder is once again rolling over the plains.

Thunder XV, believed to be one of only two live buffalo university mascots in the country, again will make on-field appearances at all six of West Texas A&M University’s home football games at Bain-Schaeffer Buffalo Stadium..

The buffalo, who is officially sponsored by Texas Farm Bureau, will run onto the gridiron accompanied by his handlers, the Herdsmen.

6 to be inducted into Shawano Athletic Hall of Fame

Four former athletes and a pair of former coaches will become the newest members of the Shawano Community High School Athletic Hall of Fame during a Sept. 27 induction ceremony.

The class of 2025 will include Christine (Umland) Hoch (1977), Allen Quinney (1981), Andy Onesti (1984), Chris Culhane (2008), coach Neil “Buzz” Montour and coach Mike Wegner.

Shawano native to be inducted into Lawrence University Hall of Fame

Five Lawrence University athletic greats and one coach are set to be inducted into the Intercollegiate Athletic Hall of Fame on Oct. 17.

Among the inductees is Shawano native Amanda Jaskolski of the class of 2015.

The group will be inducted in a ceremony at the Warch Campus Center, and the inductees will be introduced during the homecoming football game against Beloit College on Oct. 18 at Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.

Chargers notch second CWC-East volleyball win

Bonduel represented the Central Wisconsin Conference-East at last year’s WIAA girls state volleyball tournament.

Another CWC-East team would like to follow in the Bears’ footsteps.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood is one of eight teams competing for a CWC-East championship this season, along with Amherst, Bonduel, Iola-Scandinavia, Manawa, Menominee Nation, Shiocton and Weyauwega-Fremont.
