Bonduel boys triumph over Menominee Nation

Ryan Westrich scored 23 points and pulled down 17 rebounds, while Quinn Wesenberg also scored 23 points as Bonduel defeated Menominee Nation 80-67 on Dec. 16.

Jack Weier contributed 12 points, and Griffin Uelmen added another 10 for the Bears.

Shawano’s Nordin makes it official: She’s a Badger

It’s been a year since Leah Nordin verbally committed to playing basketball at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The Shawano Community High School senior made it official in November by signing her National Letter of Intent to join the Badgers.

The Bay Area Storm shut out the New Richmond Tigers 3-0 on Dec. 13.

All three goals were scored in the second period.

Hawks place 14th at Bay Port

Shawano’s boys wrestling team earned 225 points and placed 14th in the Battle of the Bay at Bay Port High School on Dec. 13.

“I was proud of the boys today,” coach Mike Homan said. “They wrestled hard in all of their matches and continue to improve.”

Marcus Brezgel placed sixth, and Nikkolas Waukau and Dane Hodkiewicz each finished eighth. Kody Popelka and Drew Chelberg each took ninth place, and Kian Morstad was 10th.

Shawano’s girls wrestlers have tough go of it in Brillion

Seven Shawano Community High School girl wrestlers competed at Brillion on Dec. 12, facing tough completion among the more than 300 others from around the state.

Zennah Bosetski , Gwyn Hermann, Jenna Moede, Madelyn Moesch, Ella Korth, Amiyah O’Kimosh and Vivian Waldburger wrestled, with Hermann placing sixth.
