Talon Gus Peters

Talon Gus Peters, 21, started his journey into the spirit world on Thursday, July 18, 2013, in Keshena. Born on July 23, 1991, at the Antigo Hospital, he was the son of Shawn “Boober” Moede and George “Fuzzy” Peters. Talon was a fun-loving father and a very free spirit who loved to play jokes on people and loved to dance and rummage.
Lorraine Mary Godding
Lorraine Mary Godding, 83, of Shawano, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013, in Appleton. Born on Sept. 11, 1929, in Sussex, Wis., she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Knapp) Mudlitz. On Aug. 14, 1954, she was united in marriage to Herbert J. Godding in Wautoma. After marriage, the couple lived and raised their family in Milwaukee, later moving to Arizona. The couple vacationed in the Cecil area until moving to Shawano in 1992.
Albin G. Chilinski
Albin G. Chilinski, 90, of Shawano, formerly of Milwaukee, was born to eternal life on Wednesday, July 17, 2013.   He was a beloved husband for 64 years of Mable (nee Falk), dear father of Dennis and Allan (Genny) Chilinski and Denise (Joseph) Garcia, and loving grandfather of Clayton (Melissa) Flood. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends.   Visitation will take place 5-8 p.m.
Proper's been working on the railroad
For the Shawano County Historical Society, the new Zachow Depot replica is a piece of living history. For Dean Proper, who grew up in Zachow in the 1940s, it’s reliving history. “I spent probably half of my growing-up years in the Chicago and Northwestern depot. False imprisonment   A Shawano man has been charged with a felony count of false imprisonment for allegedly confining a woman in a room during a domestic abuse incident in the city on Monday.   Trenton K. Mcnabb, 31, could face a maximum six years in prison and $10,000 fine if convicted.

Shawano 11U takes third in tournament
The Shawano 11U baseball team finished third in the youth baseball tournament last weekend at Memorial Park in Shawano. Shawano beat the Green Bay Sluggers 12-6 in the third-place game. Manitowoc took first place in the tournament. Peshtigo finished in second place. In the 12U tournament, Shawano advanced out of pool play but did not place. Bonduel was eliminated in pool play. First place in the 12U tournament went to the De Pere River Bandits.
Parker again wins Late Model feature
Paul Parker made it two in a row by outdueling Ron Berna in the Late Model feature at Shawano Speedway on Saturday night. Brandon Czarapata once again won the IMCA Stock Car feature. He has won all but one of the feature events at the Speedway in 2013.
Dairyland Baseball Roundup
Pulaski 4, Bonduel 3 Nick Dagnu scored on an error in the seventh inning to help the Reds beat the Broncos to open the Lobos Tournament. Tyler Wichman earned the win, throwing seven innings, striking out seven, walking three and giving up three runs on four hits. Luke Kostreva took the loss, giving up four runs on eight hits in seven innings and striking out two and walking one. Dagnu was three for four with a double.
Legion teams prep for regionals
The Shawano American Legion baseball team will open the Class AA Region 2 tournament against regional host Waupaca at 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Shawano will then play on Friday against either Berlin or New London, which play their first-round game at 6 p.m. Thursday. Games will be played Friday at 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday will feature the championship game at 3 p.m., with a second game at 6 p.m. if needed.
