Mae Louise Baxter, Wakawaknota (“She gets the last word”), 89, Seymour, passed away on Thursday morning, May 7, 2015. The daughter of the late Paul Mose and Lucy (Hill) Christjohn was born on May 11, 1925. Mae enjoyed playing bingo and cards, especially 500 Rummy. She was a valued and sought-out member of the community, where she volunteered and helped out with her humor and positive attitude. Mae brought joy to many people and loved everyone.

Charlotte V. Seefeldt, 97, of Tigerton, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Homme Home of Wittenberg. The former Charlotte Viola Riemer was born on Oct. 3, 1917, in the town of Mackford, Green Lake County, to George and Bertha (Benz) Riemer. In the late 1930s she was united in marriage to Laurence Scarrah in Little Suamico. The couple had three children, and Mr. Scarrah preceded her in death in 1944.

More than 250 area residents watched as dazzling models walked the runway Thursday during the 11th annual “Spring Fling” fashion show presented by the Shawano Woman’s Club. Three people were taken to hospitals, and a section of state Highway 47 was closed for more than an hour Thursday after a three-vehicle crash in the town of Lessor. The Shawano County Highway Department, Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin are scheduled to begin reconstructing the intersection of County Road G and state Highway 47 next week in the town of Red Springs. County G intersects Highway 47 at a sharp angle. There are also curves on Highway 47 that limit visibility down the road.
