Wisconsin egg production during July was 201 million eggs, down 8% from the previous July, according to the latest Chickens and Eggs report from the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. The average number of all layers on hand during July was 7.59 million, down 8% from last year.

The jury trial of a former Waukesha man in connection with a fatal UTV accident in 2022 has been postponed until April. Scot A. Haas, 55, of The Villages, Florida, is charged with homicide by negligent operation of a motor vehicle and homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, in connection with the accident that claimed the life of David Weinmann, 56, of West Chicago, Illinois, on May 29, 2022. The trial had been scheduled for Sept. 25-27.

• Hussein M. Ali, 36, a former Tigerton man serving a sentence at Jackson Correctional Institution in Black River Falls, pleaded guilty Sept. 11 to felony bail jumping and a misdemeanor charge of operating while revoked. Judge Katherine Sloma levied fines and fees totaling $1,411. • Jason K. Pyawasit, 45, Shawano, pleaded no contest Sept. 10 to fleeing an officer in his vehicle and a forfeiture offense of reckless driving endangering safety.

As my traditional bow collection grew, I’ve had a difficult time using one particular bow and sticking with it.

The Oconto County Board is expected to give final approval Sept. 19 to a five-year library services plan to cover the years 2025 to 2029, which includes a reduction in county support for five of the six local libraries in the county. The plan is the result of a nearly two-year study with a focus on reducing the property tax burden on the 11 “unlibraried” municipalities in the county, which otherwise do not support a local library.

With garden centers fully stocked with colorful annuals, perennials, shrubs, grasses and more, it’s a great time to give your garden a September update. In some cases, summer blooming annuals and perennials are still putting on a spectacular show into September.

“Llama See That Evidence” by Erin McCarthy and Kathy Love was better than I expected. It is the second in the Friendship Harbor series of cozy mysteries. Sophie LaFleur grew up in California and became an actress starring in the series “Murder She Texted.” About the time the series was canceled, Sophie learned that she had inherited her grandmother’s estate in Friendship Harbor, Maine.

The Oconto Falls City Council on Sept. 10 approved a community event application for the second annual Trick or Treat Trail, but council members said they hope organizers resolve the parking issues that plagued the first event a year ago. The free Trick or Treat Trail is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 26 at West Side Beach Trail.
