Bonduel cleaning up village in October, November

The village of Bonduel has announced its annual fall cleanup event. Leaf collection will begin Oct. 15 and end Nov. 22. Collection days are scheduled Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the time period. Weather conditions, quantity of leaves and work priorities will dictate when each location will be serviced.

Cropland, pasture rental rates noted in report
Non-irrigated cropland cash rent averaged $158 per acre in Wisconsin during 2024, $7 higher than 2023, according to the latest report released by USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Pasture rented for cash averaged $41 per acre, $3.50 above 2023. Lafayette County had the highest cash rent for non-irrigated cropland at $261 per acre, followed by Grant County at $244 per acre.

Mursau receives Friend of Housing Award

Randolph J. Elbe
Randolph J. Elbe, formerly of Gillett, passed away on Sept. 4, 2024, in Sacramento, California. Randy was born on May 19, 1948, in Shawano to the late Kenneth and OraBelle (Kobs) Elbe. Randy attended Gillett High School graduating with the class of 1966. He attended Wartburg College in Iowa before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. While in the Air Force, Randy was part of the Air Force Drum and Bugle Corps.
Thomas Allen 'Turtle' Steinke
Thomas Allen “Turtle” Steinke was called up to the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, in Appleton at 72 years of age. Thomas Allen “Turtle” Steinke lived in Pella. Tom was born on July 21, 1952, in Shawano to Allen “Swampy” Steinke and Mary Ann (Schmidt) Steinke. Tom attended Leopolis Grade School and graduated from Marion High School with the class of 1970.
