This week I read M.G. Herron’s “Culture Shock.” It is the first in the Gunn Files science fiction series featuring bounty hunter Anderson Gunn. It is said that if it is weird, you can probably find it in Austin, Texas, and Anderson couldn’t agree more. The last year has been rough.

Mark Flunker saw four new homes built and three remodeled during his 10-year stint with Wolf River Habitat for Humanity in Shawano. He retired on Nov. 2. As construction supervisor, he oversaw and coordinated Habitat’s home building activities, and served as the executive director. “I was with Habitat for 10 years as of Oct. 15,” Flunker said.

Patricia L. Petrich, 88, a resident of the Luther Home in Marinette, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 31, surrounded by her family. She was born May 23, 1936, to Joseph and Cecelia (Fisher) Eland in Menominee, Michigan, where she spent her early life. She graduated from Menominee High School and resided in the Marinette-Menominee area until moving to Gillett in 1982 upon her marriage to Merlin “Manny” Petrich.

Some people are a little bit country, while others are a little bit rock ‘n’ roll. Ledfoot Larry doesn’t quite fit into either category.
