Daniel P. Jagla

Daniel P. Jagla, 75, of Townsend, passed away peacefully at The Cottages on Sunday morning, Oct. 27, 2024. Daniel was born in Shawano on March 17, 1949, a son of the late Daniel and Betty (Humboldt) Jagla. He attended Wabeno High School and graduated with the class of 1967. On Sept. 18, 1969, Daniel was drafted into the United States Army where he served through March 1, 1971. He then reenlisted on Dec.
Peters named top defensive player of 2024
Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy senior Calvin Peters was named defensive player of the year, Across the Bay Conference officials announced.
Kristof named volleyball defensive specialist
Suring High School senior Emma Kristof was named the defensive specialist in the Marinette & Oconto Conference all-conference list for 2024. Joining here with first team honors were Lena High School seniors Eva Brooks and Peyton Dorow. Gillett High School sophomore Audrey Pate and Suring sophomore Lexi Remic were named to the second team. Honorable mention status was earned by Suring freshman Ellayna Skarban.
Allen 'Albert' P. Osterbrink
Allen “Albert” P. Osterbrink, 70, of Eland, passed away on Monday, Nov. 4, 2024, at home, under the care of his family and St. Croix Hospice, after a long battle with cancer. Allen was born on Aug. 25, 1954, in Wausau, the son of Philip and Adalyne (Houf) Osterbrink. On Sept. 22, 1984, Allen was united in marriage to Marnie A.
William J. Lappen
William J. Lappen, 88, long-retired paper industry executive, local philanthropist and soon-to-be great-grandfather for the fourth time, died peacefully in his sleep on Oct. 31, surrounded by his family. Throughout his life, William cultivated the love of beauty in nature and love of birds and dogs.
Village upgrading website in 2025
The Wittenberg Village Board signed off Nov. 4 on a three-year contract with Town Web that includes upgrading its website. The village has been with Town Web for 12 years already, but this is the first time the company has asked for a signed contract, according to Village Clerk Traci Matsche. Under the contract, the village will pay $2,120 for the first year, which includes $1,200 for the website upgrade.
St. Paul announces church, school Christmas services
St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel has announced its Christmas service schedule. St. Paul will hold Christmas Eve services at 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Christmas Day service will take place at 9 a.m. The school will also hold several Christmas programs. Preschool and kindergarten students will perform at 10:15 a.m. Dec. 8. First through fourth grades will perform at 7 p.m. Dec.
Alfred H. Keith
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alfred Henry Keith on Oct. 28, 2024, at the age of 89. Alfred was born on March 21, 1935, in Lena to Henry and Josephine Keith. Alfred attended Oconto Falls High School and St. Norbert College in preparation for his vast and ambitious career.

Wendorff, Salveson lead cross country runners at state
Gillett’s Bradyn Wendorff led all area runners with a seventh-place finish in the Division 3 boys race at the state cross country tournament Nov. 2 in Wisconsin Rapids. Wendorff completed the event in 16:26.7. There were 151 runners in the D3 race with the best time of 15:52.7. The Bonduel boys team placed 14th among 16 teams. Race Anvelink led the Bears with a 30th-place finish in 17:50.3.
