An 80-year-old man died in a two-vehicle crash June 15 on Highway 29. According to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department, around 10:22 a.m., the dispatch center received multiple 911 calls reporting a crash on the highway east of Broadway Road in the Town of Hartland. A preliminary investigation indicates that an SUV traveling eastbound on Highway 29 collided with a motorcycle that had just entered the highway from a nearby business.

Shawano County and Shawano Hockey League officials are trying to hammer out a list of repair priorities at the Crawford Center in Shawano, the hockey league’s home ice rink. The repairs are for broken and damaged items in the building, noted when Nick Hesse, the county’s facilities management director, went through the building earlier this year. Black marks on the walls, dented garage doors and damaged service doors were highlighted.

A $35,000 grant to conduct a feasibility study for a new route for the Mountain-Bay Trail in the Town of Richmond is coming to fruition with a public meeting scheduled for June 25. The public is invited to attend the meeting from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in Room A of the Shawano County Courthouse, 311 N. Main St. “The Mountain-Bay Trail covers 53 miles through the county and 81 miles or so through three counties,” said Nancy Brown-Koeller.
