Ethics complaints declared ‘dead issue’ by Kautza

Investigations into ethics complaints against Shawano County elected and appointed officials have ended with no action taken by the county’s ethics and executive committees. Tom Kautza, county board chairman, told supervisors June 25 the matters were settled, but Supervisor Lowel Hammett refused to let it go. 3 juveniles admit to vandalism
Three juveniles have been identified as suspects in a string of vandalism across Shawano County late last week. A Facebook post by the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department led a parent to call in and report suspicions about their child’s involvement.

Delinquent real estate sales resume
Shawano County officials are trying a second time to conduct a first-round sale of real estate foreclosed on by the county. The county has taken possession of five properties due to the owner not paying back taxes. A first attempt to sell the properties by the county was halted when officials realized they were not following the law that required the sites be advertised for sale with an appraised value attached to them. June 29 Hofa Park 7, Shawano 3 Shawano took an early lead in the top of the first inning on Tom Keszo’s sacrifice fly in Dairyland League action. Bear Paw survives triple whammy
It started with a collapsed building, continued with a once-in-a-lifetime windstorm and ended with an international health pandemic. All in all, it was not a good 1½-year stretch for a popular Oconto County youth camp. Pound man charged with attempted homicide
A 36-year-old Pound man was charged June 25 in Oconto County with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and three counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety. Judge Michael Judge set a $500,000 cash bond and adjourned the initial appearance until July 16 for Cody K. Race. According to the criminal complaint, at about 12:50 a.m.

• Andrew E. Mahers, 37, a Pound man serving time at Stanley Correctional Institution, pleaded guilty March 3 to possession of methamphetamine, possession of narcotic drugs, and felony bail jumping.
