Expectations that Shawano County could soon have a permanent third circuit court judge appeared to evaporate when the state Senate adjourned March 17 without considering the bill.

Senators ended the legislative session, effectively killing more than 100 bills that had been passed by the state Assembly.

Timothy Novitski is challenging incumbent Matt Pleshek for the Shawano County District 14 seat on the county board.

What made you decide to run for this position?

• Serena J. Thompson, 27, Suamico, pleaded no contest March 18 to felony bail jumping and a misdemeanor charge of resisting or obstructing an officer. Judge Katherine Sloma levied fines and court costs and sentenced her to time served in the county jail.

• Taythin T. Inrasavongsa, 23, Little Suamico, pleaded no contest March 18 to a misdemeanor charge of taking and driving a vehicle without consent. The charge was amended from a felony in a plea agreement. Judge Michael Judge sentenced him to two months in county jail with Huber work-release and good time privileges.
