The University of Wisconsin varsity band, under the direction of Michael Leckrone, will be coming to Clintonville for a two-hour show in April.
Hosted by the Clintonville Lions and Rotary clubs for their 11th annual joint Entertainment Night fundraiser, the band will perform at 7 p.m. April 5 in the fieldhouse at Clintonville High School, 64 W. Green Tree Road.
“We are extremely excited and proud to bring the UW Wisconsin band to our area of the state and for the opportunity it provides for an up-close and personal experience with the best collegiate band in the country,” said Lowell Easley, chairperson of the joint Lions-Rotary committee arranging the band’s appearance.
Tickets will go on sale Jan. 13 and can be purchased at the Clintonville Chamber of Commerce, 1 S. Main St., and B & H Fashionwear, 52 S. Main St., in Clintonville. They may also be purchased online at uwbandclintonville.eventbrite.com.
Advanced general admission ticket prices are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $8 for student/child (18 and younger) for the 1,200 bleacher and 240 folding-chair floor seats. Tickets for a premium “up close and personal” section with 240 seats will cost $20. Tickets, if still available, will be sold at the door at slightly higher prices.
“The Wisconsin band has continued to perform to sell-out crowds in performances ranging from Camp Randall and the Kohl Center to Lambeau Field, Rose Bowls, numerous other bowl games and the Final Four basketball tournament in Indianapolis,” Leckrone said. “We are truly looking forward to our visit and trust that this will be a memorable experience for your audience.”
Proceeds of the event will be used by the Lions and Rotary clubs to fund their community service projects. Projects include handicap ramp construction and installation, youth exchange program, end-of-the-year eighth-grade breakfast, senior graduation banquet, college scholarships, Badger State Boys and Girls, vision screenings, student-of-the-week recognition, educator-of-the-year recognition, dictionaries to third-graders, sight/hearing assistance and citizen volunteer service recognition.
Funds generated from the fundraiser are also donated to the Clintonville Historical Society, the annual Clintonville Goodfellows Christmas collection and distribution, and the Clintonville chapter of Beat The Heat.
In addition, funds raised go to support the Lions Camp for the blind and visually impaired in Rosholt, and also for national and international relief efforts.
