SACF taking gamble with new fundraiser

Tickets are $100 each, and participants will be able to enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and have fun playing casino games. No real money gambling will occur. To get tickets, register at https://cffvr.fcsuite.com/erp/donate/list/event?event_date_id=5653.

SACF was established in 1990 by community volunteers to preserve and improve the quality of life in Shawano and the surrounding area. The foundation manages more than 90 funds created by local families and organizations with assets of more than $15.3 million. Through those funds, nearly $515,000 was granted in the past fiscal year to support nonprofits in Shawano County and beyond, and $256,225 was given in scholarships to local students.

As the number of nonprofit organizations in the community grows to meet increasing needs, the availability of philanthropic dollars has not kept pace. The rising cost of living is affecting not only the most vulnerable but also many hard-working families who are now struggling to make ends meet. More people are turning to local nonprofits for support. At the same time, government funding for key programs is coming to an end. Food insecurity and financial instability are becoming even more pressing concerns.
