The Boys and Girls Club of Shawano is holding its annual Purses for a Purpose fundraiser Oct. 15.
The main draw of the evening is a purse auction featuring new, high-end handbags, clutches, and totes; the collection from last year included pieces by Kate Spade, Gucci, Michael Kors, Aimee Kestenberg, and Dooney and Bourke among other name-brand purses. Guests will also enjoy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar as they mingle with fellow Boys and Girls Club supporters.
Johanna Wicklund, CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Bay and Lakes Region, will speak to the club’s impact midway through the evening, highlighting how club’s safe spaces, caring mentors, and high-quality programs allow children and teens to thrive and empower them become tomorrow’s leaders. All proceeds from this fundraiser stay local, benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Shawano and supporting its mission.
Tickets are $60 each or $450 for a table of eight. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available online at pursesshawano25.givesmart.com.

“Purses for a Purpose is such a vital event because it directly supports the Boys and Girls Club of Shawano in its mission to provide guidance, opportunity, and a safe place for our youth,” said Wendy Crawford, Boys and Girls Clubs of the Bay and Lakes Region corporate board member. “The funds raised ensure that children in our community have access to caring mentors, enriching programs and the tools they need to grow into confident, successful adults. This event is a reminder that when we come together in support of our kids, we are investing in the future of Shawano itself.”
