Betty M. Rock, 85, Birnamwood, died on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Wausau Manor. She was born on Sept. 16, 1928, in the town of Almon, Shawano County, the daughter of the late Otto and Alma (Weikel) Forsberg. She married Elmer Grosskopf on Feb. 12, 1946. The couple later divorced. She then married Raymond Rock Sr. on May 18, 1968. He preceded her in death on Aug. 22, 2009.
Betty was a homemaker and enjoyed going to rummage sales, thrift and craft stores. She was also a very talented piano player. Betty was a member of New Hope Community Church, Wausau.
Survivors include her children, April (Jim) Allikas, Chris (Dan) Jury, Debra (Tom Carley) Rebro, Renee (Joe) Jent, Ray (Jackie) Rock, Mike (Amy) Rock; two stepdaughters, Mary (William) Licht, Pamela (John) Lewis; two stepsons, Danny (Rosemary) Rock and Randy (Carrie) Rock; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Janice Grosskopf and Lorraine Grosskopf.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; two grandsons, James Allikas Jr. and Joey Kitsman; one brother, Elmer Forsberg; and three sisters, Eleanor Herrmann, Bernice Liesch and Ruth Forsberg.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at New Hope Community Church, County Road J, Wausau. The Rev. Dan Eisnor will officiate. Visitation will be Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
