Hawks get 2nd win, stop Marinette The Shawano Community High School girls basketball team got its second win of the season Friday at home with a 44-39 win over Bay Conference foe Marinette. Sara Hokenstad and Megan Klitzke led Shawano (2-8, 2-5 Bay) with 10 points each. Eagles boys lose to Port Edwards The Menominee Indian High School boys basketball team lost 52-39 to Central Wisconsin Conference-10 foe Port Edwards Friday in Keshena. Dallas Madosh scored 14 points to lead Menominee Indian (3-5, 3-4 CWC-10). Chris Montag led Port Edwards (9-1, 7-0) with 14 points. Chargers hand Amherst girls first loss Micah Nier scored a career-high 30 points and the Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School girls basketball team beat previously undefeated Amherst 58-55 Friday in Amherst. Nier hit 12 baskets and was perfect from beyond the 3-point arc and at the free-throw line to lead Wittenberg-Birnamwood (9-1, 5-0 CWC-8). Mikayla Hartman added 15 points. Jaimee Pitt led Amherst (8-1, 4-1 CWC-8). with 18 points. Tigerton girls beat Gresham by 25 The Tigerton High School girls basketball team beat Gresham 58-33 in a Central Wisconsin Conference-10 game Friday in Tigerton. Erin Robbins led Tigerton (4-6, 2-3 CWC-10) with 17 points and five steals. Brisk aids Bowler win over Tri-County Led by Ashlynn Brisk’s 19 points, the Bowler High School girls basketball team beat Tri-County 42-28 Friday in Bowler. Brisk also had six rebounds, four assists and three steals for Bowler (3-5, 2-4 Central Wisconsin Conference-10). Kennedy Malone added six points and 14 rebounds. Marion defeated by Almond-Bancroft The Marion High School boys basketball team lost to Almond-Bancroft 60-29 in a Central Wisconsin Conference-10 game Friday in Marion. Cole Drefahl led Marion (3-9, 3-5 CWC-10) with 14 points. Cody Meddaugh scored 18 points to lead Almond-Bancroft (8-3, 6-1 CWC-10). Witt-Birn loses to Amherst The Wittenberg-Birnamwood High School boys basketball team lost to Amherst 58-37 Friday in Wittenberg. Nick Kapitz scored 12 to lead the Chargers (4-7, 1-5 CWC-8). Tyler Biadasz had 18 points to lead Amherst (11-2, 5-1 CWC-8). Eagles wrestlers stop Manawa The Menominee Indian High School wrestling team beat Manawa 45-24 Thursday in Keshena. The Eagles got six pins. Antonio Mahkimetas (145) pinned Justin Wentworth in 44 seconds. Forrest Webster (152) pinned Michael Gray in 2:50. Kyle Komanekin (160) pinned Ben Byer in 1:16. Naeciway Latender (182) pinned Andy Briston in 1:25. Jame Pecore (195) pinned Jake Kaczoronwski in 28 seconds. Kyle Winker won an 8-6 decision over Dominic Schuelke.
