Doris R. Hoffman, 96, of the Town of Waukechon, Shawano, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2020. Doris was born on July 14, 1924, to the late Emil and Ella (Schachtschneider) Habeck in Clintonville. She graduated from Clintonville High School in 1942.
Doris worked at FWD in Clintonville until she was married. On Aug. 12, 1950, Doris was united in marriage to Martin Hoffman at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Pella Opening. They owned and operated the family farm in Bonduel until Martin’s passing on Feb. 8, 1997. Doris then moved to Shawano. She was a member of the Widows Club, 55+ Club, Highlander Homemaker Club, Tops Club Wisconsin 867 for 28 years where she served in every office and known as the “sunshine lady” and always shared a good joke.
Doris was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel where she became an honorary member of the Mission Circle. She loved to dance to polka music and enjoyed listening to it as well on Sunday morning television. Doris loved to play sheephead, she continued to play while battling dementia and stated that she was still sharp for a good game of cards and shoot the moon. She was known for her sense of wit and infectious smile and it will be missed by all.
Doris dearly loved her grandchildren, but she especially cherished her great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Diane (Tom) Eggert; grandchildren, Corey (Dustin) Beyer, of Shawano, Jason (Erica) Eggert, of Shawano, Jacob (fiancé Megan) Eggert, of Shawano, Craig Hoffman, of Shawano, Christine (Josh) Eliason, of Madison, and Katie (Adam) Mix, of Pennsylvania; great-grandchildren, Parker, Maci, Lauren, Laney, Lincoln, Brendon, Owen, Quinn, Ezra, Emerson, Brianna and Bryce; special niece Mary (Craig Wians) Jung; nieces and nephews, Lois Clayton, Lynn Hansen, Jim (Karen) Habeck, Jim Weber, and Dick (Donna) Hoffman; special godson, David Breutzman; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Martin; son, Wayne Hoffman; and brother, Herb (Nelda) Habeck.
A funeral service for Doris was held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bonduel with the Rev. Timothy Shoup officiating. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
The family of Doris would like to extend a special thank you to Meadowview Estates in Bonduel for the wonderful care given over the past several years, especially to Melissa and other caregivers; as well as Shawano Health Services for the wonderful care given by Melanie, Carla and other caregivers, to Doris over the last few days of her life.
