The Oconto Falls Community Library and Oconto and Marinette County University of Wisconsin-Extension will offer a series of sessions designed to help backyard fruit growers. The discussion will be led by Scott Reuss, UW-Extension horticulture agent.
Raspberries and blackberries will be discussed on Jan. 22, apples and pears on Jan. 29, grapes and blueberries on Feb. 12, and strawberries and stone fruits on Feb. 19. Each of the two-hour sessions will begin at 6 p.m. at the Oconto Falls Community Library, 251 N. Main St.
Participants will review cultivar selection, placement and planting issues, pest management and plant management. The discussion will be oriented toward home fruit growers and focus on the key production aspects and steps to allow for efficient management and consistent, high-quality fruit production.
