Leland J. LaMotte

Leland J. LaMotte, 45, of Euless, Texas, formerly of Neopit, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020. Leland was born March 19, 1975, in Antigo, a son of Bernice Kapishkowit and the late Leighton LaMotte Sr. He earned his high school diploma from Flandreau Indian School in Flandreau, South Dakota. Most recently, he was employed by Amazon in Fort Worth, Texas. Leland enjoyed traveling, sightseeing, photography and spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his mother, Bernice, of Zoar; his siblings, Valerie (Mark Sr.) Self, of Middle Village, Muriel Waupoose, of Neopit, Rosemary (Shannon Sr.) Waupoose-Tucker, of Middle Village, Leon (Sonja) Nahwahquaw Sr., of Neopit, George Nahwahquaw Sr., of Bonduel, Mary Nahwahquaw, of Shawano, Denise Black, of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Leighton LaMotte Jr., of Shawano, Lisa LaMotte, of Euless, Texas, Jerry Nahwahquaw, of Shawano, and Marquise (Marissa Escalante) LaMotte, of Keshena; his stepsisters, Twila Shawano, of Bowler, and Kemawin (Robert) Dess, of Bowler; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Keesha Madosh; his father, Leighton C. LaMotte Sr.; his stepfather, Jerry B. Shawano; his sister, Susan Waupoose; his brother, Norman Waupoose Jr.; his maternal grandparents, George and Susan Kapishkowit; and his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Odile LaMotte Sr. Private traditional family services were held Monday, Nov. 30, 2020, in Middle Village. Burial will take place in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Neopit in the spring. Mickelson Funeral and Cremation Service of Shawano is assisting the family with arrangements.
