A Keshena man who was convicted last year of sexually assaulting a child was indicted this week in federal court with sexually abusing a 4-year-old girl.
Jacob J. Zhuckkahosee, 20, had sexual contact with the girl between June 15 and July 17 at a residence on the Menominee Indiana Reservation, according a criminal complaint filed Aug. 15 in federal court in Green Bay.
The girl’s mother took her daughter to Menominee Tribal Police after the daughter experienced a urinary tract infection. The girl told police that Zhuckkahosee had pulled down her underwear and sexually abused her while in bed at her mother’s house, according to the complaint.
The complaint indicates Zhuckkahosee admitted to the incident while being interviewed by tribal investigators and a FBI agent. He told the investigators that he halted the sexual contact after the girl started crying.
Zhuckkahosee also said that he wanted the girl to know that he was sorry and told the FBI agent that he wanted to get treatment for his problem, according to the complaint.
Zhuckkahosee was arrested Monday and indicted Tuesday. A not guilty plea was entered for him Wednesday before District Judge William Griesbach. Griesbach ordered Zhuckkahosee detained until his Oct. 28 trial.
If convicted, Zhuckkahosee faces maximum penalties of life in prison, lifetime supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
Zhuckkahosee was convicted in Menominee Tribal Court of first-degree sexual assault of a child in January 2012, according to Wisconsin Department of Corrections records.
His supervision was subsequently terminated, according to the records.
Zhuckkahosee is required to be a lifetime registrant on the Wisconsin Sexual Offenders Registry.
Details of Zhuckkahosee’s conviction were not available, as Menominee Tribal Courts remained closed Friday due to a power outage.
