Ione A. Jaegers

Ione A. Jaegers, 93, of Gillett, passed away peacefully on Sept. 3, 2025. She was born on June 17, 1932, to Robert A. Sr. and Goldie A. (Vanderwegen) Young.

lone is survived by her children, Kenneth (Patricia) Montie, Tom (Lynn) Montie, Mike (Kristi) Montie, Patrick (April) Montie, Sandy (Tom Prey) Montie and Scott Montie. She is also survived by her 20 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Sherry (Roger) Jeffers.

Family was truly the heart of lone’s world. As a single mother raising six children, she worked tirelessly at the canning factory to provide for them. She was renowned for her ability to bring everyone together – especially at holiday gatherings like Christmas where she would prepare a feast and fill the house with laughter and warmth.

She was an avid Packers and Brewers fan, always wearing her Packers gear whenever they played. A devout Catholic, lone began each day with her rosary, finding peace and strength in her faith. Her garden was her sanctuary, she spent countless hours tending to her vegetables and flowers, nurturing vibrant blooms that brightened her home.

Whenever she had somewhere to go, lone took pride in looking her best, delighting in getting her hair done and choosing a favorite outfit. Her kindness, creativity and infectious spirit touched everyone she met, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished family traditions.

lone’s creativity was evident in the lovingly sewn outfits she made for each grandchild, thoughtfully choosing fabrics in their favorite colors. She also enjoyed crocheting and baking homemade treats, filling jars with her famous canned goods – gifts she delighted in sharing with family and friends. These traditions and personal touches brought warmth to every gathering and left cherished memories for generations.

lone and Hunk enjoyed their trips to the casino together. These outings were a source of fun and laughter. Her dedication as a caregiver was evident when she cared for Hunk for almost 20 years following his stroke, offering him patience, comfort and unwavering love and support. Through her selflessness and kindness, lone created a legacy of love that touched generations.

Her husband, Francis (Hunk) Jaegers; her daughter, Deborah; and her brother, Robert Jr.; passed away before her.

Visitation will take place on Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, from 4-6 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (340 S. Monroe Ave, Green Bay, WI 54301). A memorial ceremony will take place immediately following visitation at 6 p.m. with Father Patrick Beno officiating.
