Sacred Heart Catholic School first-grade students recently learned about how Christmas is celebrated on the other side of the world in Australia.
As part of the school’s commitment to cultural and religious awareness in education, students learned that in Australia, families often celebrate Christmas Day by opening gifts and heading to the beach for a barbecue. They also discovered the fun tradition of Santa Claus — and even beachgoers — wearing Santa hats while surfing.
To bring the lesson to life, the class created a festive craft of melted snowmen, symbolizing the blending of familiar winter traditions with Australia’s warm-weather celebrations.
