Oshkosh on the Water
Shawano had nine boys wrestling at the Oshkosh on the Water tournament, as they tallied 219 points and placed 21st among 64 teams.
Four wrestlers made the second day of wrestling, which means they earned a spot in the placing rounds of the tournament.
“This was the most wrestlers that we have had medal at Oshkosh on the Water,” coach Mike Homan said.
Dane Hodkiewicz had a bracket that was loaded with state qualifiers. In his blood round match, he beat a former state qualifier just to earn the right to be in the placing bracket. He took ninth place.
Kody Popelka earned a sixth-place finish in the tournament.
“Kody really wrestled well on his feet and was very dominant in his takedowns this week,” Homan said. “Along with wrestling a great tournament, Kody also earned his 100th victory today.”
Marcus Brezgel also took sixth place.
Drew Chelberg earned a fourth-place finish.
