Antigo 4, Spooner 1
Antigo improved to 8-3 overall with a 4-1 nonconference win over Spooner.
Billy Portman scored a hat trick for the Red Robins. He started the scoring with a goal at 8:36 in the first period with an assist from Richie Vera.
In the second period, Liam Burt assisted Portman at 4:37. Spooner scored its goal near the end of the period to make it 2-1.
At 2:51 in the final period, Portman scored unassisted, and Burt did the same at 11:35 to end the scoring.
Antigo goalie Austin Martinson had 48 saves against 49 shots on goal. Spooner goalie Dalton Brummond had 17 saves against 21 shots on goal.
The Red Robins were penalized five times for 10 minutes, while the Rails had three penalties for six minutes.
Fond du Lac 2, Bay Area 1
Bay Area Storm dropped below .500 overall with its 2-1 nonconference loss to Fond du Lac. The Storm are now 5-6.
Friday, Jan. 2
Shawano/Bonduel 5, Spooner 2
The Hawks improved to 8-2 overall with a 5-2 home win over Spooner.
All five goals by Shawano/B0nduel came from different players.
Gavin Hundt scored first at 9:13 with help from Blake Swedberg and Cameron Schroeder. Spooner tied the game five minutes later.
In the second period, Swedberg scored with assists from Kielian Armbruster and Hundt, Quinten Harkey scored with help from Teagan Harkey and Jeremy Helmuth, and Armbruster scored with Hundt assisting.
Spooner scored at 1:50 in the third period, but Landon Vickery scored unassisted at 4:36 to make the final scored 5-2. Hawks goalie Tyson Lyons had 28 saves on 30 shots on goal. Rails goalies Logan Smith had 16 saves against 16 shots on goal, and Dalton Brummond had 37 saves against 42 shots on goal.
Shawano/Bonduel was sent to the penalty box twice for four minutes. Spooner was penalized four times for 11 minutes.
