Oconto Falls wins Pulaski Volleyball Invitational

The Oconto Falls volleyball team went a perfect 5-0 to capture the championship at the Pulaski Invitational on Sept. 20. In morning pool play, Oconto Falls defeated Bonduel (25-9, 25-16), NEW Lutheran (25-14, 25-16) and Seymour (25-18, 25-18). The Oconto Falls volleyball team went a perfect 5-0 to capture the championship at the Pulaski Invitational on Sept. 20. The Panthers continued their strong season with consistent play on both sides of the ball.

In morning pool play, Oconto Falls defeated Bonduel (25-9, 25-16), NEW Lutheran (25-14, 25-16) and Seymour (25-18, 25-18). The Panthers then advanced to the Gold Bracket, where they topped Pulaski (25-22, 25-16) in the semifinal and beat Kiel (25-12, 25-18) in the championship match.

Against Bonduel, Izzy Otto and Brenna Belanger each tallied seven assists. Otto and Rylie Shallow sparked the service game with five and four aces, respectively, while Lucy Ripley paced the offense with 11 kills.

Versus NEW Lutheran, Otto dished out nine assists and added seven aces, Shallow recorded 11 digs, Ripley finished with seven kills and three aces, and Brylee Gorman added four aces. Against Seymour, Otto posted 18 assists, five kills and seven digs; Ripley tallied 10 kills, two aces and six digs; Calli Bursa contributed seven kills and eight digs; Gorman chipped in five kills; and Shallow anchored the defense with 11 digs.

In the Gold Bracket against Pulaski, Otto handed out 15 assists, Ripley delivered 17 kills and Shallow added nine digs and four aces.

As for the championship match against Kiel, Otto recorded 15 assists and two aces, Shallow had 15 digs, Ripley added 11 kills and two aces, Gorman tallied six kills, and Bursa finished with eight digs. Oconto Falls improved its record to 19-4.

Tigerton volleyball team shuts down Bowler

Oconto Falls swept Wrightstown, winning in straight sets 25-21, 25-21, 25-15.

The Panthers were led by Izzy Otto with 25 assists, 12 digs and five aces. Rylie Shallow added 15 digs and three aces, while Lucy Ripley recorded 17 kills, five digs and two aces. Ella Jahnke chipped in six kills, and Brylee Gorman tallied five kills.

Tigerton 3, Bowler 0

Tigerton defeated Bowler in a CWC matchup Sept. 18 with set scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-17. It wasn’t an easy match as the Tigers had to fight back from a six-point deficit in the second set to win that one.

Jaelyn Brady led Tigerton with 25 digs, followed by Lillian Welch with 12 and Renata Nordwig with 10.

Danika Tiller tallied 12 assists, and Aaliyah Lederhaus collected seven.

Presley Stewart-Rolfs led the Tigers with seven kills, while Welch had six and Lederhaus had five. Stewart-Rolfs and Mya Smith each had two block kills.

Brady notched 11 service points with five aces, Nordwig had 10 points and two aces, Myah Dent had 10 points and three aces, Tiller notched eight points and two aces, and Stewart-Rolfs netted six points with two aces.

Coleman 3, Lena 2

Lena’s wins over Coleman were squeakers, but Coleman’s victories came with much bigger margins as the Cougars tamed the Wildcats 3-2.

Coleman won the first set 25-15, and Lena came back to win the second set 25-23. Coleman won the third set 25-13, and again Lena came back to win 25-23 in the fourth set. In the fifth and final set, Coleman won 15-8.

Suring 3, Niagara 0

Suring won all three sets against Niagara, but none of the wins came easily.

The Eagles won by scores of 25-23, 25-23, 25-21.

Chloe Schroeder collected 28 assists for Suring.

Gracie Christensen tallied eight digs and three kills, and Addison Frank had one kill.

Aliya Cox had 12 kills and seven digs, while Lexis Remic had four kills and four digs.

Ellayna Skarban tallied 13 kills and five digs.

Karissa Hischke had a pair of digs and a kill, while Hailey Bo Pecanas had one kill, and Aleena Broetzman had a dig.

Schroeder had three aces, Christensen had two, and Remic recorded one.
