Shawano volleyball camps begin

Shawano Community High School varsity volleyball coach Jean Wolff has been holding youth camps long enough that her assistants for this year’s camp, which began Tuesday, attended the same camp nine years ago. “It’s fun because some of the coaches I have now, and last year, too, started with me when they were in first or second grade,” Wolff said. Airport Commission plans legal offensive
Airport officials are strapping themselves in for a full-throttle response to a harassment claim filed last week against the airport’s manager. Parker rolls to Late Model win
Paul Parker had to sweat out a couple of late-race cautions before taking home the Late Model feature at Shawano Speedway on Saturday night. Also, Jerry Wilinski won the IMCA Modified feature, and Brandon Czarapata won another IMCA Stock Car feature.

Glenn L. Davids Sr.
Glenn Lee “Chief” Davids Sr., 84, of Bowler, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at the Ella Besaw Center, Bowler. Born on April 9, 1929, in Gresham, he was the son of the late Elmer and Eureka (Jourdan) Davids. On Nov. 13, 1946, Glenn enlisted with the United States Navy and served his country for four years. On Christmas Eve 1949, he was united in marriage to Marcella “Marky” Clifton in Baltimore, Md.

Heirs to SMC property include prominent names
A law firm hired to search for heirs to the estate that deeded Smalley Park to the city has located some 20 people who could have some claim on the property, including some prominent East Coast names. Terry L. Raddant
Terry L. Raddant, 57, of Shawano, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013, at ManorCare in Shawano. Born on June 19, 1956, in Shawano, he was the son of the late Marvin “Boots” and Donna (Pleshek) Raddant. Terry was raised in the Shawano area and attended Shawano High School. He later worked as a union welder and later did concrete work.
