Kelly Lake Triathlon winners announced

The third annual Kelly Lake Triathlon took place on July 6 with 140 participants completing in the 1/2- mile swim, 15.5-mile bike ride and 3.4-mile run. Oconto County Sheriff’s Department
At 8:20 p.m. July 1, a female driver was westbound on County Road W in the town Riverview, left the road and struck a porch on a house about 75 feet off the roadway. The exact location of the home was not available. Her van sustained minor damage. At 1:04 p.m. July 5, two female drivers were injured in a two-vehicle accident on County Road I at Fuller Lane in the town of Oconto Falls.

FBLA team finishes in Top 15 at nationals
A partnership with local senior citizens has propelled a team of Oconto Falls High School students to the top of a national competition. The OFHS Partnership in Business team of Elizabeth Coopman, Candis Dequaine and Jessica Belongia recently earned a spot in the Top 15 at the Future Business Leaders of America National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, Calif.

Bosacki gets 3 years in prison
A Green Bay man, whose high-speed ride on a country road ended in tragedy, will spend one hour at the grave of the girl who died in the crash on the anniversary of her death, for 10 years. Rough start dooms Oconto Falls Legion
The Oconto Falls American Legion baseball team made a tough task more difficult with a rough start Sunday against Northern Division-leading Marinette. Oconto Falls lost 12-2 in five innings after giving up six runs in the first inning at Memorial Field. “We’re a team, especially when we’re playing a team as good as Marinette, we can’t afford to give up any mistakes,” Oconto Falls coach Chris Hillberg said.

Shawano beats Menominee 14-6 in comeback victory
The Shawano American Legion baseball team has fallen behind early in games recently, but the team is battling back, as it did in a 14-6 win over Menominee on Friday night at Memorial Park. Shawano (3-9) fell behind Menominee (4-5) 5-1 after the first 1 1/2 innings. After scoring runs in the second and fourth to cut Menominee’s lead to 5-3, Taylor Prey hit a two-run double to tie the game.

Shawano Speedway midseason report
The 2013 racing season has most certainly reached its midpoint. That being the case, the race to the point titles are beginning to come into focus. The late model division this year was a bit of an unknown at the start of the year. Combining the old FASTRAK class and the former WISSOTA division into one class was questioned by some racers and fans alike.

2002-2003 Legion champs plan reunion
The 2002 and 2003 back-to-back state champion Shawano American Legion baseball team will hold its 10-year reunion July 20. The team will face the current Legion team in a game at 4 p.m. at Memorial Park. Players and parents will be bringing pictures and memorabilia for everyone to enjoy. Fans are encouraged to attend. The team’s coach Jim Kamke also plans a practice at 6 p.m. Friday.

Delmar ‘Bud’ Schenk
Delmar ‘Bud’ Schenk, 84, Bowler, died on Friday, July 12, 2013, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Mount View Care Center, Wausau. He was born July 7, 1929, in Wausau, the son of the late Eddie and Viola (Rosenow) Schenk. On April 18, 1953, Bud was united in marriage to Lila Kriegel at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tigerton.
