‘1776’ brings founding of country out via songs

During the 250th anniversary year of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Abrams Spotlight Productions Inc. will stage a show that’s more than the typical musical.

“1776 The Musical” brings to life the debates, compromises, and larger-than-life personalities behind the founding of the United States. Director William Knaapen said audiences will enjoy the blend of history and entertainment.

Suring library rummage sale coming in May

The Friends of Suring Area Public Library will hold its annual rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 7-9 and May 14-16.

The sale will end at 2 p.m. on May 16 at the How Township Garage, 12896 State Highway 32, Suring. The sale will include at clothing, household items, furniture, jewelry, collectibles, and more.

Donations are being accepted at the garage May 4-6 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. No electronics will be accepted.

Ducks interact with Sacred Heart children

Ashley Kast, Sacred Heart Catholic School 4-year-old kindergarten paraprofessional, brought in a group of ducklings for a special visit recently as students, from left, Tate Surfus, Logan Grabowski and Lukas Hoffman got to play with one of them. The fluffy guests quickly captured the hearts of students and staff alike, sparking curiosity, joy, and plenty of smiles.

Hawks tennis team shuts out Red Devils

The Hawks clamped down on the Red Devils, shutting them out 7-0.

Menominee Nation 14, Marion 9

Trailing 7-3 after four innings, Menominee Nation went on a tear an scored 11 runs in the final three innings en route to a 14-9 win over Marion.

CJ Pyawasay Anikosaeh Corn each had two hits for the Eagles, and Kyle Pecore, Caleb Grignon and Craig Penass each had two RBIs.

Both of Pyawasay’s hits were doubles.

Bears take down Thunderbirds

Bonduel 12, Iola-Scandinavia 5

Juliana Jacobs hit a home run, and Jayla Reinke had a double in Bonduel’s 12-5 win over Iola-Scandinavia.

Maddie Hert hit 3-for-4 with two RBIs.

Reinke, Jacobs and Marlie Hartmann also had two RBIs apiece. The three girls were joined by Emery Thompson with two hits each.

Pulaski finishes in middle of the pack on golf course

Shawano golfers scored 383 and placed 18th among 20 teams at High Cliff Golf Course in Sherwood.

Leading the Hawks was Collin Dieck with 89. He was joined by Duane Gristeau-Blanche at 94, T.J. Smith at 96 and Caiden Cappaert at 104.

Red Raiders shut out Bluejays on soccer field

Pulaski 8, Menasha 0

Kara Barber scored two of the Red Raiders eight goals in an 8-0 shutout at Menasha.

Pulaski scored five goals in the first half and three more in the second.

Ruth Krause started the scoring with an assist from Anya Hasser. That was followed by Barber’s first goal and another Hasser assist. Hasser scored the third goal unassisted.
