Through a partnership involving the Oconto Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, Oconto Falls High School tech ed department and two local businesses, a custom trailer was built and will be part of a prize package in the Falls Fun Fest raffle. The chamber will raffle off a Cabela’s ATV and trailer, kayaks and other items.

The Oconto Falls High School boys track and field team took seventh and the girls finished ninth at the Bay Conference meet Saturday in Denmark. Oconto Falls boys coach Lon Ludemann said he was hoping his team could get closer to fifth place. Junior Mike Friedman had two of the top finishes for the Panthers.

Falls narrowly loses to Denmark Freshman McKenna Kussow allowed four runs through seven innings, but the offense could manage only two runs as the Oconto Falls High School softball team lost 4-2 to Denmark on Thursday. After Oconto Falls High School endured a rough start in game one of a baseball doubleheader at West De Pere, the Panthers were able to bounce back and claim game two. The Panthers (4-9, 3-9 Bay Conference) dropped the first game 3-2 and won the second game 4-2. “We’ve lost a number of one-run games, and we’ve got to start getting over the hump,” Oconto Falls coach Charlie Rochon said.

Oconto Falls High School junior Ben Stoinski and his fellow Panther golfers tied for sixth among 13 teams at the Stu Anderson Invitational on Thursday. Stoinski fired a 45 on the his front nine and 39 on the back nine to combine for a team low 84 at River Island Golf Course. His score was sixth best among the 64 golfers competing. “The first round was a little bit shaky with putting,” said Stoinski, who is the No. 2 golfer for the Panthers.

Copper Culture State Park is gearing up for another season. The Werrebroeck House/Copper Culture Museum will open on Saturday, May 24, and will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. seven days a week through Labor Day weekend. Guides will show guests recent additions donated to the museum’s expanding copper artifact collection in the Copper Culture Room.

Proceedings from May 13 Lyle W. Hennricks, 47, West Allis, waived his preliminary hearing on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, fourth offense in five years, on May 2 in Little Suamico. The court reduced the cash bond to $3,000. An arraignment is June 5. A preliminary hearing was held for River Pendleton, 18, Gillett, on charges of aggravated battery on April 29 in the town of Gillett.
