Quilts have been a part of the ladies group from Peace Lutheran Church in Tilleda for the past 30 years. It started with more members but is now down to four women who quilt and one who cuts and sews. They meet at the Peace Parish Hall. “We mostly make lap robes,” Ann Lang said. Lang, Pat Reinert, Florence Giessel and Florence Trinko, church members who all live in the Tilleda area, do the final quilting. Irene Wohler cuts and sews the tops.

Brian Johnson is the president of the Shawano Athletic Booster Club, which will hold its spring jamboree April 11. Johnson was born in Stevens Point, moving to Shawano when he was 6 years old.

Norman Herman Brei, 85, of Gresham, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2015. Norman was born on April 4, 1929, in Leopolis, to the late Herman Brei and Clara (Krueger) Brei-Schlender. In 1934, the Herman Brei family moved to Gresham, where Norman lived since.

Cynthia D. (Beyer) Taylor, 57, of Shawano, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, in Shawano. Cynthia was born in Sturgeon Bay on April 16, 1957, to the late William and Dolores (Ebert) Beyer. She loved caring for and helping people, which led her to work as a nursing assistant for several years and later pursue her degree as a registered nurse.

Edith Marie Schutt, 89, of Shawano, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, March 27, 2015, at Maple Lane in Shawano. Edith was born on Nov. 11, 1925, in Shawano, the daughter of the late Raymond and Marie (Bauman) Webster. On April 9, 1944, Edith was united in marriage to Ewald Schutt in Shawano. They lived and farmed in the township of Richmond. Mom was by Pap’s side until his passing on Feb. 15, 2001.

The Clintonville Common Council recently voted unanimously to support interim City Administrator Chuck Kell’s proposal to seek a Rural Development grant and loan to help pay for extensive upgrades to the city’s wastewater treatment plant.
