Lila Postler

Lila Irene Postler, 83, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024, at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill. She was born Feb. 19, 1941, in Shawano to the late Albert and Irene (Montoure) Shroeder. She met the love of her life, Perry Postler, at a dance in Tilleda. They married Oct. 15, 1960, at St. Jacobi Lutheran Church in Shawano, treasuring 60 years of marriage. Perry preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 2019. Lila had seven siblings and growing up enjoyed time spent at the cottage on Shawano Lake and a cabin in the woods. Lila and her sister Darlene had a band in their younger years. Lila was a talented woman who played accordion, harmonica, organ and piano. Lila worked at A & W and the bank. Following her marriage to Perry, she became a housewife. Lila enjoyed life, she loved her wildlife and birds, traveling, motorcycling, dirt biking, four-wheeling, cake decorating, crafts, hunting and fishing. She loved gardening and going to the family cottage up by Mountain. Lila had a strong faith, and her family was very important to her, along with her two dogs, Maddie and Babe. Lila was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Her survivors include a daughter, Terrylynn (Bill) Thom of Gleason; a son, Troy (Teresa) Postler of Antigo; step-grandchildren, Jason of Antigo, Brad of Georgia, Lisa of Summit Lake, Joshua of Colorado; two brothers, Dennis and Gene Schroeder; a sister, Darlene Drake; and many nieces and nephews. Lila was preceded in death by her husband, Perry; parents; two brothers, Lawrence and Al Schroeder; and a sister, Betty Stiebs. In honor of Lila’s wishes, no services will be held. Burial will take place in Forest Cemetery in Birnamwood.
