Parsons excited to play for Green Bay

The Green Bay Packers shook up the landscape of the NFL on Aug. 28.

It’s a day that will live in infamy in the state of Wisconsin.

The Packers, normally set as a conservative franchise that would never give up the draft capital it takes to acquire an impact player, made the largest trade in the NFL since the Denver Broncos traded for Russell Wilson.

Green Bay will kick off Week 2 of the NFL season when it hosts the Washington Commanders on Sept. 11.

Washington’s defense was a turnover-happy bunch a season ago. With Dan Quinn at the helm, the Commanders’ defense improved to a point to get them to the NFC Championship game, where they ultimately fell against the Philadelphia Eagles.

And we’re off and running.

The Green Bay Packers open their season by hosting the Detroit Lions in Week 1, and just four days later, they will take on the Washington Commanders in Week 2.

There’s no time to dwell on the previous game, the Packers will play on Thursday Night Football against a team that played for the conference championship a season ago.

Packers 6-pack: Thursday game for Week 2

The Green Bay Packers and Washington Commanders will face off at Lambeau Field on Sept. 11, with Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstret on the call with Amazon Prime carrying the game.

This will be the second of two big games to start the season for the Packers. After opening against Detroit, Washington was the team that knocked the Lions out of the playoffs last year to play in the NFC Championship game.

That’s unusual with FOX usually being the NFC partner, but with every team playing to start the season, that is the nature of the beast.

The Packers will be looking to get off to a good start, after finishing on a sour note a season ago.
