Shawano/Bonduel 5, Stevens Point Pacelli 2
Shawano/Bonduel traveled to the Ice Hawks Arena to take on Stevens Point Pacelli and returned home Dec. 2 with a 5-2 win.
Shawano Community High School sophomore Quinten Harkey had a hat trick for the Hawks, who scored all five of their goals in the first two periods. Pacelli’s two scores came in the third period.
Gavin Hundt started the scoring for Shawano/Bonduel, knocking the puck into the goal just 12 seconds into the game. Blake Swedberg assisted. Harkey scored his first goal at 8:14 with an assist from Teagan Harkey.
At 3:41 in the second period, Quinten Harkey scored again, this time with an assist from Bryce Lammers. Waylon Snider scored the Hawks’ fourth goal just 12 seconds later with an assist by Max Huntington. Harkey’s hat trick goal came at 7:42 with help from Cameron Schroeder.
Shawano/Bonduel had 38 shots on goal, all in the first two periods. The Cardinals had 28 including the two in the third period that found the back of the net.
Kaiden Thornborrow had 26 saves for the Hawks, and Aiden Olds had 33 for the Cardinals.
There were no penalties in the game.
Fox Cities 8, Bay Area 4
The Fox Cities Stars scored two goals within 14 seconds of each other in the first period and never trailed in their 8-4 win over the Bay Area Storm.
The Storm’s Grant Forgette scored with an assist from Cash Ebeling at 7:29 in the first period to make it 2-1 in favor of Fox Cities. But, the Stars scored once more in the first for a 3-1 lead and then against 55 seconds into the second period for a 4-1 lead.
Tyler Wempe scored for the Storm at 5:59 with help from Connor Annala and Caden Basczyk. Fox Cities went up 6-3 before the end of the second period.
In the final period, the Storm’s Carter Janowski scored at 6:15 with assists from Ebeling and Annala. The Stars closed out the game with two more goals.
Bay Area had 28 shots on goal, and Stars goalie Elliot Reichenbacher collected 24 saves. Fox Cities had 49 shots on goal, and Storm goalie Justin Pintar had 41 saves.
The Stars were penalized four times for eight minutes, while Bay Area had seven penalties for 22 minutes.
