CWC Conference Meet
Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s boys wrestling team placed third at the Central Wisconsin Conference Championships in Wittenberg.
Weyauwega-Fremont won the conference title with 256 points, followed by Shiocton with 235.5 and Wittenberg-Birnamwood with 122.5.
Other teams and scores were Pittsville 78, Amherst 59, Bonduel 58, Rosholt 45, Menominee Nation 39.5, Manawa 32, Tri-County 22 and Almond-Bancroft 14.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s Benjamin Miller pinned Weyauwega-Fremont’s Logan McDaniel to win the 150-pound weight class.
At 175, Bonduel’s Ryley Kurtz won by a major decision over Shiocton’s Scott Daniels.
Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s George Seegmiller won 7-1 over Weyauwega-Fremont’s Wyatt Wetzel at 215 pounds.
Green Bay Preble
Two junior varsity boys and one varsity girl placed third for the Shawano wrestling teams at a multiple-school meet at Green Bay Preble on Feb. 7.
It was the last regular season tournament of the year.
Jenna Moede took third place, with Zennah Bosetski and Lauren Seehafer each placing fourth. Ella Korth took seventh.
“The girls had some tough matches today,” coach Mike Homan said. “They were put into some good situations that they will see Friday in their regional competition.”
For the JV boys, Collin Piper and Damian Heyrman each placed third while Blake Stickney and Dominick Thorson each took fourth.
“They gave a great effort against some tough competition,” Homan said. “I was proud of how they battled all day long.”
