Gerarda M. (Okimosh) Peters, 67, of Keshena, passed away Monday, Oct. 26, 2020, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton. Gerarda was born March 28, 1953, in Keshena to the late Peter Sr. and Delvinia (Waters) Okimosh. She graduated from Shawano High School. On Nov. 25, 1991, Gerarda was united in marriage to Darrell Peters.
Gerarda worked at Menominee Indian High School and at Menominee Casino. She enjoyed going to the casino, hunting, fishing and riding in the woods. Gerarda was the best cook ever. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. Gerarda will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
Gerarda is survived by her husband, Darrell; children, Frank (Tina) Okimosh, Ree Okimosh, Leslie (Geronimo) House, Delvinia (William) Okimosh, Justin Okimosh, Justina Okimosh and Fallan Okimosh; grandchildren, Frank Jr., Darrell, Hunter, Channing, Isabella, Bryce, Payton, Dean III, Delvinia, DaVannee, Kesoq, Koda, Audra, Kenai, Carl III, Cyrius, Casheous and Chance, Sr.; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Audrey Okimosh, Peter (Cathy) Okimosh Jr., John (Mary) Okimosh, Forrest (Renee) Okimosh, Basil (Wally) Okimosh, Richard (Denise) Okimosh, Diane Boivin and John Teller Sr.; nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Michelle Mauritson; special nephew, Brett “Chip” Okimosh; and special friend Dean Waupoose Jr.
She is further survived by other relatives and friends, including the Arikara family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Davey Jean Okimosh Reiter, Elthea Richmond and Anna Mauritson.
Visitation was held for Gerarda on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano. The processional then left for Okimosh Cemetery in Keshena with Nahwahquaw officiating.
