The local 2025 Toys for Tots campaign has kicked off its work to collect and distribute new, unwrapped toys to children in need throughout eastern and central Shawano County.
The Shawano campaign runs from November through December, culminating in holiday distributions that ensure every child in need wakes up to a gift.
“For many families, the holidays can be a time of stress rather than celebration,” said Michael Johnston, Shawano County Toys for Tots coordinator. “Our goal is simple: to make sure no child in Shawano County is forgotten this season. With the support of our community, we hope to brighten many more Christmases in 2025.”
Over past years, the campaign has built a strong tradition of generosity and service. Through the dedication of local volunteers, business partners and generous donors, hundreds of children have received toys, books and other gifts that bring not only happiness, but also the message that they are not forgotten.
The national Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program, active for more than 75 years, provides the framework and support for local campaigns like Shawano’s.
The collection of toys and donations starts the week of Nov. 3. Sign-ups will be open online at www.shawano-wi.toysfortots.org. Nonprofit partners may apply and receive toys based on age group availability to ensure fair access for families.
New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at designated local businesses, municipal buildings, schools and other community locations. Boxes will be placed widely across the county for convenient drop-off of toys. Monetary donations may be made at shawano‑wi.toysfortots.org or by scanning the QR code found on distribution boxes. All donations remain in Shawano County.
Volunteers will collect the filled collection boxes during the week of Dec. 1 and sort toys by age, type and condition.
Local distribution days will be held Dec. 11-13 at 607 E. Elizabeth St., Shawano.
Volunteers and organizations interested in participating are urged to sign up early to ensure smooth operations. For information, contact Johnston at 715‑280‑0991.
