March is National Women’s Month. Being one myself, I am mindful of the courageous women who laid it all on the line so that we would have the same rights as men. It took a century, but our rights aren’t guaranteed.

Sacred Heart students learn at Navarino Nature Center

Sacred Heart Catholic School students spent a full day immersed in hands‑on learning at Navarino Nature Center, engaging in outdoor exploration that strengthened their academic skills, teamwork and appreciation for the outdoors.

I take Merlin with me on my walks these days to help me identify the early spring migrants that are finding their way back to Wisconsin. Merlin, a free birding app available from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, like the magician of old, works its magic by helping to identify birds you are seeing or hearing.

Lena Pathfinders hold rummage sale

The Lena Pathfinders will hold an annual rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 29 at the American Legion Hall, 316 W. Main St., Lena.

The Pathfinders are the youth organization within the world Seventh-day Adventist church. This sale provides funds for the young people at the local level to enjoy club activities and participate in community service projects.

4-H members ‘Level Up in Life’ in leadership camp

Local 4-H educator Megan Suehring worked with 4-H colleagues recently to provide “Level Up in Life: 4-H Teen Leadership Winter Camp” at Spencer Lake Camp in Waupaca.

Partnering with six additional eastern Wisconsin counties, Suehring and others presented a winter leadership camp experience for 4-H members to learn, grow and lead.

Magee receives 20-year school board award
