Students invited to create art for Mountain-Bay State Trail anniversary

Area grade school and middle school students are invited to create artwork for The Enchanted Trail, an outdoor student art exhibit that will be featured during the Mountain-Bay State Trail’s 30th Anniversary Celebration on Sept. 26.

Friends of the Mountain-Bay State Trail-Shawano is accepting submissions now.

Students are invited to create artwork inspired by the theme “Things You Can See or Do on the Mountain-Bay State Trail.”

Entries might depict wildlife, hiking, biking, nature scenes or family activities — anything that captures the spirit of the trail. Artwork should be 8½ by 11 inches and may be created in any medium including crayons, colored pencils, markers, paint or mixed media. Both portrait and landscape formats are welcome.

Finished pieces will be displayed in protective sleeves along the trail near the visitor center during the Sept. 26 celebration. Students are encouraged to attend to see their work on display and receive a participation gift.

Artwork will not be returned after the event.

The submission deadline is Sept. 17 with pickup from schools Sept. 18. Each submission must include a student information form listing the student’s first name and last initial, grade for the 2026–27 school year, school name and teacher’s name.

Teachers — including summer school instructors — who would like their students to participate should contact Ann Kestell at 920-422-1742 by Sept. 17 so pickup arrangements can be made. Homeschooled students are also welcome to participate and may contact Kestell for more information.

Additional information and student submission forms can be found in the events section of the Friends website, www.friendsofthemountainbaytrailshawano.org.
