One dead after motorcycle collides with truck

An Escanaba, Michigan, man died July 12 after his motorcycle collided with a truck in the Town of Chase.

Oconto County Sheriff Todd Skarban said in a news release that the crash occurred just after 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of County Road S and Schwartz Road, in the Town of Chase.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a truck was stopped at the stop sign on Schwartz Road, facing south. The truck then proceeded into the intersection, where it was struck on the passenger-side box area of the truck by an eastbound motorcycle traveling on County Road S, Skarban said.

The operator of the motorcycle, a 39-year-old man from Escanaba died from injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the truck, a 48-year-old man from Oconto Falls, and his passenger, a 25-year-old Oconto Falls manm were evaluated at the scene by medical personnel and released.

The crash remains under investigation by the Oconto County Sheriff’s Department, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office, Skarban said.
